I was nervous to post this because I don’t have the best pictures of Emerson’s nursery (this space is hard to shoot as it is limited to what all I can get in frame) and despite my child being almost one, I’m still not entirely finished with her room (*spoiler alert* there are no curtains hanging on my gorgeous lucite curtain rod). Despite all that, I’m still really excited to share it! I had a lot of question about this space after posting a few pictures to my stories, so without further adieu here is the room I decorated for my sweet little one.
This was by far the most fun I’ve had decorating…mainly because I didn’t have to worry about what Brandon would think. Most of the spaces in the house I have to restrain from making ‘too girly.’ I want Brandon to feel comfortable and have a sense of home when he walks in the door as well, so that means finding a balance. But not with this room! Sweet freedom! I get A LOT of compliments on the color I painted the walls, and it sets the mood for the whole room. I’m still just as obsessed with it today as I was when I first put a swatch on my wall. I chose Gentle Butterfly by Benjamin Moore and it was the best decision I made for the room as a whole. It is THE PERFECT soft blush color that makes the room feel light, airy, and sweet.
I want to briefly talk about some of the hero’s of the room, and then I’ll make sure to link all shopable pieces in this post. One of my first purchases for this room was this dresser from Z Gallerie. I wanted something that could grow with her and I’m so happy with the quality and look of this piece. I love that they included both brass and silver hardware for the drawer pulls so I can change them out whenever I want. The drawers are soft close and it has a beautiful lacquer finish.
This faux fiddle leaf tree adds just the right amount of color in the room, and Emerson loves looking at it and tugging on the leaves. I want to give a brief shout out to my ceiling fan. It went against everything in me not to get some fabulous light fixture, but this was the one thing my ever practical husband was adamant about having. In hindsight he was totally right. When summer’s in Texas reach 100+ degrees, I was really grateful we had this running at night in Emerson’s room to keep her cool. It’s practical but I also think it’s just the cutest ceiling fan I ever did see.
I need to rave for a moment about these crib sheets. They are one of the best purchases I made for Emerson! Let’s face it, baby mattresses are super firm and need all the help they can get. I wanted to buy super soft cozy sheets for her to make the crib comfortable, and these sheets were a home run!
One of my other favorite items I bought was this fabulous Chanel live moss art work. These pictures don’t do it justice, it looks really cool and adds some lovely interest to the wall. It’s a little pricey for the size, but I just adore it and would purchase it all over again.
We easily spend the most time in this little rocking/reading nook. I highly recommend a glider over a rocking chair, and ladies let’s be real, you are going to be in this chair A LOT. Please get something comfortable, I saw a lot of really cute chairs I thought would look great aesthetic wise, but I went with one I actually found by chance at Babies R Us and bought it because it was comfortable (don’t get me wrong, I think it’s cute too!). The bookshelf was actually an afterthought, I’d intended to put in a ledge book shelf but quickly realized that wasn’t going to cut it. Emerson LOVES books and we were quickly acquiring more than would fit on ledge shelves. So I found this lovely beauty on Amazon, and it’s been great!
A side note: that black and white canvas on her book shelf is a picture I posted on my stories a week after Emerson was born. I was so smitten with her tiny little hand wrapped around my finger! Anyway, a week later this showed up in the mail. My incredibly thoughtful friend, Kellie, surprised me and it was one of the sweetest gifts I’ve ever received.
Hope you guys like it! I linked all sources below, let me know what you think or if you have any questions in the comments!
xoxo,
Jordan
